You have great detail in your writing. All of the questions of ''why me?'' brought your story to my attention. You have a good way of hooking your readers/audience in. There is one grammer mistake- the word Mom (Or Mum) is capitalized. So is Dad. Your story is interesting, though. Best of luck with your story!

Overall – good start! I like the characterisation – from this short extract we learn a lot about the narrator, his mother and Cade. I like the short descriptions of actions and the tracking of the narrator's thoughts – it is something that we can all empathise with. Don't think it 'doesn't stand a chance!' Every book can, with enough skill and effort! This extract shows potential; I like the dry sense of humour that is already shining through. Just take suggestions for improvements with an open mind and you will have a great book!
If you REALLY want to write your book in the present tense, go ahead. But this is generally the territory of more experienced and experimental authors. It could work out – but perhaps you might consider switching to the conventional past tense unless you have a symbolic reason for this? It can be distracting for the reader.
I know you said that there are none of these grammar mistakes in the real thing, but why not just copy and paste it? It gets quite distracting when there are so many. Here are a few you should check because you might have mistakes in your real thing.
Commas, not full stops, finish speeches if you are then going to reference to the speaker. 'i' is capitalised. Sometimes your sentences are too short – this technique can be effective for building up tension, but otherwise join them together with connectives to improve the flow of the reading. 'Horribley' is spelt 'horribly.' When you say, for example, "I pull of my pajamas," the 'of' needs to be an 'off.' Also when you say "well I'm about to change so if theirs something you don't want to see…" the 'theirs' needs to be 'there's.'
"When finishing a speech, put a comma as opposed to a full stop," I said.
